EnerGuide is the official mark of the Government of Canada for its energy performance rating and labeling program for key consumer items - houses, light-duty vehicles, and certain energy-using products. The information provided by EnerGuide allows consumers to compare different models with confidence. The data may be a rating number based on a standard measure or a verified average of energy consumption. The EnerGuide label provides data for that model’s annual energy consumption (kilowatt hours) and a scale for similar models. EnerGuide labels for major appliances and room air conditioners are administered by Natural Resources Canada are mandatory under the Energy Efficiency Regulations. The EnerGuide label provides that model’s AFUE/SEER rating, EE rating or FE rating, and a scale for similar models. EnerGuide labels for heating and cooling equipment (except for room air conditioners) are administered by The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) in all provinces except Quebec. The EnerGuide label for gas fireplaces is administered by The Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association of Canada (HPBAC).
